Appearance: Dirty straw with a pretty solid chill
haze. Decent head initially, but it died
a quick death (3/5).
Aroma: There’s the apples. And there’s the yeasty, bready smell. Something very pear-like comes out as it
warms, as does a touch of honey. But
nothing about the aroma is overly aggressive (3.25/5).
Taste: This tastes so much like apples that I could
probably convince someone it is a cider.
There’s a little bit of hop bitterness at the end, but otherwise it is
straight apple juice. It’s a very
straightforward flavor. Almost painfully
simple (2.75/5).
Mouthfeel: Medium body, light carbonation. I also get a hint of warmth from the alcohol
(2.75/5).
Overall: It may be
worth noting that this is the first organic beer in my Belgian Pale Ale
series. The reason it’s worth noting is
because nothing else about this beer demands to be called out. It’s very plain and kind of boring to drink. I didn’t hate it, but I don’t know why I
would ever order another one (3/5).
